Jun Ji Hyun
At the 50th Baeksang awards, the lovely and talented actress Jun Ji Hyun was awarded the Grand Prize in the TV category for her performance in My Love From The Star alongside Kim Soo Hyun. Jun Ji Hyun’s performance was an iconic part of K-Drama productions, and she shared a fun chemistry with the then-popular co-star Kim Soo Hyun. She playfully said, “Let’s make more hits” to Kim Soo Hyun during her speech and expressed her gratitude to the viewers across Asia, story writer Park Ji Eun, Director Jang, and the staff involved. Jun Ji Hyun was praised for not forgetting how everyone’s role added up in the success of this drama, and her acceptance speech garnered 6.6 million views.
Choi Min Sik
Although this amazing moment happened 10 years ago, Choi Min Sik, an actor known for his raw and powerful acting, won the prestigious Grand Prize for Film due to his role as Admiral Yi Sun Sin at the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards in May of 2015. His role in the film The Admiral: Roaring Currents was an unforgettable piece that was recognized for leading the most-watched film in Korean history at the time, recording over 17.6 million admissions at the box office. While thanking the Director and staff for creating such an intricate maritime set for the period piece, Choi Min Sik reflected on the weight of the award and his character by saying, “There is a lot of responsibility portraying a revered historical figure like Admiral Yi Sun Sin.” His award video has over 4.7 million views.
Kim Hye Ja
Veteran actress Kim Hye Ja was also recognized for her talent and awarded the Grand Prize for Television in her work in the JTBC series Light In Your Eyes at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2019. The award-winning story is known for its emotional portrayal of hardships involving aging and dementia. Although this marked her fourth career Grand Prize, highlighting her exceptional performance as an actress, this particular video gained over 4 million views because of her well-spoken speech and representation of older stars. Yoo Hae Jin
Last is a highlight from this year’s award ceremony– and no, it wasn’t YoonA and Suzy being caught in the same dress on the red carpet! Yoo Hae Jin’s acceptance speech was regarded as the most memorable moment of the night. Not only was his role in The King’s Warden an unforgettable one, but also his bond with co-star Park Ji Hoon. The idol turned actor, rising to the top, built a great relationship with the senior actor, who reflected on it during his speech. He rambled in the beginning, saying, “I honestly somewhat expected to receive the Best Actor award, but when that didn’t happen, I had to collect myself emotionally.” He then focused on Park Ji Hoon, who was crying in the audience, saying, “The reason I was able to immerse myself so deeply into this role was that Park Ji Hoon provided such great chemistry with his expressive eyes in every scene. I received so much from him, and I’m truly thankful.” The emotional speech has already gained almost 2 million views.
