Kim Yun Seok and Koo Kyo Hwan are teaming up for mystery thriller White Blast.
Set at a remote train station cut off by heavy snow, the film follows longtime stationmaster Gap Su (Kim), who is nearing retirement, and his newly arrived replacement Hyun Taek (Koo). Their quiet routine is upended when they discover a mysterious body.
Kim plays Gap Su, who has spent his life working at Seol-o Station, while Koo takes on the role of Hyun Taek, the new station employee who arrives just before a string of unexpected events.
White Blast is co-directed by Hong Eui Jeong, whose debut feature Voice of Silence drew critical acclaim, and Park Sun Woo. The film blends suspense with dark humor.
The first teaser opens with Gap Su and Hyun Taek heading into a tunnel to inspect the tracks against a quiet, snow-covered landscape.
“Looks like nothing’s ever going to happen here,” Hyun Taek says shortly before the pair stumble upon a body.
Tensions quickly erupt between them, with one accusing the other, “You killed him, didn’t you?” as the confrontation turns physical.
Hyun Taek later says, “I won’t tell anyone what happened here,” hinting that the discovery will push their relationship into increasingly dangerous territory.
White Blast opens in South Korea in November.
