Hyun Bin has thanked viewers following the finale of Disney Plus original series Made in Korea Season 2, as director Woo Min Ho confirmed that Baek Ki Tae survived the controversial ending and will return in Season 3.
Disney Plus released farewell messages from the show’s main cast on September 29th, including Hyun Bin, Jung Woo Sung and Woo Do Hwan.
Set nine years after Season 1, Made in Korea Season 2 followed Baek Ki Tae’s (played by Hyun Bin) increasingly dangerous pursuit of greater power and concluded on September 23rd. The finale appeared to leave Baek Ki Tae’s fate uncertain, sparking intense debate online over whether the character had died.
Woo has since put that speculation to rest.
“Baek Ki Tae is definitely alive,” the director said in an interview, adding that Season 3 is already in preparation. He explained that the character was originally supposed to die in the script, but he ultimately decided he could not let him go.
Woo also clarified that the gunshot heard in the final scene was not meant to represent Baek Ki Hyun firing his weapon, but rather “the sound of the era,” saying Baek Ki Tae would return “in an era that needs him.”
Hyun Bin, meanwhile, marked the end of the season with a brief message to viewers: “Thank you for watching Baek Ki Tae in ‘Made in Korea’!”
Jung Woo Sung added, “Thank you sincerely for all your interest and love for ‘Made in Korea 2,'” while Woo Do Hwan said, “Thank you for loving ‘Made in Korea S2’!”
Seo Eun Soo, Won Ji An, Jung Sung Il, Noh Jae Won and Cha Hee also shared messages thanking viewers for supporting the series.
Woo’s comments mark a shift from earlier this month, when he said Season 3 had not been considered. He now says preparations began while Season 2 was still in production.
