Jung Woo Sung, Jung Sung Il and Wi Ha Jun are officially joining director Kim Hong Sun’s new hard-boiled historical action film Kill List (literal title).
Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, Kill List follows Ihwa, a young girl who loses everything in the Gyeyu Coup and sets out for revenge against Han Myong Hoe, the strategist who wrote the kill list.
The film is now moving into full-scale production after confirming its cast, led by Jung Woo Sung, Jung Sung Il and Wi Ha Jun. Kill List is adapted from the webtoon of the same name, which has surpassed 120 million cumulative views and won the grand prize at the first Daum Online Comic Competition, earning recognition for both its storytelling and artwork.
Kim Hong Sun, who drew global attention with Project Wolf Hunting after the film was invited to the 47th Toronto International Film Festival and the 55th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, will direct and write the screenplay. Kim recently returned to Korea after completing the British crime drama Gangs of London Season 3, with Kill List marking his Korean comeback project.

Billed as Korea’s first global action historical drama project of its kind, Kill List will bring in international talent behind major productions. Cinematographer Michael Carstensen, whose credits include The Dark Tower and Netflix’s The Witcher, and lighting director Kieran White, who worked on The King’s Man and The Marvels, will help capture a blood-soaked Joseon era through a fresh, global lens.
In a rare move for a historical action film, Kill List is also in positive discussions with major global distributors for a worldwide release, including North America.
Jung Woo Sung will play Han Myong Hoe, the cold-blooded strategist who systematized the purge and personally created the kill list. Jung Sung Il joins the cast as Ban Seok, a figure who protects Hwajeopmong, the secret organization formed to assassinate Han Myong Hoe and other coup loyalists.
The film will also introduce Ihwa, a young girl who vows revenge against Han Myong Hoe and chooses to walk the path of a monster, along with five female characters who make up the assassin group Hwajeopmong.
Wi Ha Jun will make a special appearance as Prince Suyang, a man driven by fierce ambition for the throne and convinced that he is destined to seize it.
Kill List is currently in pre-production, with plans to finalize its full cast lineup in the first half of the year and begin filming sometime in 2026.
