Project Wolf Hunting stepped down from its top spot just a day after its release.

On September 23rd, the Korean Film Council announced that the film came in second as it garnered 48,139 moviegoers on the second day of its release. Although it opened at No.1 on the box office, attracting 78,996 people in audience, it soon handed over the lead to Confidential Assignment 2: International the second day of its release.

Meanwhile, Confidential Assignment 2: International reclaimed the top spot, registering 73,622 moviegoers the same day. It also has recorded a cumulative audience of more than 5.07 million people and is expecting to hit 6 million.

The hard-boiled action film follows dangerous criminals on a cargo ship who are transported from the Philippines to South Korea, as they unleash a sinister force after an escape attempt leads to a riot.

Although the film drew attention as it was screened at the 47th 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, viewers have been showing mixed reviews on its R-rated scenes. Some say it’s “unnecessarily violent” while others say it’s just taking “an extreme approach” to make a point. Curiosity is rising over whether the film will be able to rebound this weekend.
