Ha Young has returned to filming her upcoming SBS drama The Long Shot Trial as controversy over her great-grandfather’s pro-Japanese activities continues.
Her agency, BISTUS Entertainment, told Xports News on August 20th that the actress is “continuing with her previously scheduled filming,” while declining to provide further details about the production schedule.
According to a separate OSEN report, Ha Young was given about a week away from filming by the production team and returned to the set on August 20th.
The update follows reports that filming had briefly stopped earlier this month after Ha Young became emotional on set. She reportedly resumed work after taking several hours to rest.
The controversy began after Ha Young spoke during promotions for Netflix’s Our Sticky Love about coming from four generations of doctors. Attention then turned to her great-grandfather, Ahn Sang Ho, as historical records detailing his pro-Japanese activities resurfaced.
Ha Young issued a handwritten apology on the 12th, saying she had known only a limited version of her great-grandfather’s life.
“I regret speaking casually about my family history without properly understanding our country’s painful history under Japanese colonial rule,” she wrote.
The production team behind The Long Shot Trial previously said that a substantial portion of the drama had already been filmed and that they were aware of the controversy surrounding Ha Young.
The upcoming comic legal mystery stars Lee Je Hoon as Kwon Baek, a former lawyer who now works as an office manager at an unconventional law firm that takes on seemingly unwinnable cases.
