Seungri, a former member of BIGBANG, has denied allegations that he assaulted a man at a restaurant in Seoul.
The Gangnam Police Station reportedly received a complaint on August 26th of last month from a man identified as Lee. He accused Seungri of special assault, and police are currently investigating the incident.
Lee claims that Seungri assaulted him while they were drinking at a restaurant. Seungri has given a different account of what happened.
According to Seungri, he was having dinner with two acquaintances when an intoxicated man repeatedly asked to join their table. Seungri said they politely refused several times, but the man continued asking because he wanted to discuss a business proposal. The situation eventually led to an argument.
Seungri said that he later agreed to have drinks with the man. The two exchanged contact information and became acquainted. Seungri also said that the man even accompanied him when he left the restaurant.
However, Seungri said he was surprised when his attitude suddenly changed. A few hours after the incident, he reportedly messaged Seungri saying that he would bring a business proposal the following week. Seungri claims that the man then suddenly accused him of assault and filed a complaint.
Seungri asserted, “While I did hold a bottle when I expressed my intention not to join them, I did not swing it or threaten anyone.”
Seungri said he has already secured security camera footage and witness statements and plans to fully cooperate with the police investigation. He also said that he and his acquaintances are considering taking legal action over what they believe to be a false accusation.
Police will review the restaurant’s security camera footage and interview witnesses to determine exactly what happened.
