Han So Hee is getting candid about everything from working with Choi Min Sik to marriage, motherhood and the kind of man she hopes to end up with.

The actress stars opposite Choi in The Intern as Sun Woo, the young CEO of a fashion startup who finds an unlikely partner in Ki Ho, a retired man who joins the company as its oldest and most junior intern.

Unlike Choi, who admitted feeling pressure over remaking the 2015 Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway film, Han said she was excited by the challenge.

“I thought it was an honor to take on the lead role in a remake of such a famous original,” she said. “I thought it would have a completely different feel with Choi Min Sik and Han So Hee instead of Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.”

Han said she identified with Sun Woo’s perfectionist streak and tendency to push herself too hard.

“We’re both perfectionists, but neither of us is actually perfect,” she said. “I’m similar to her in the way I sometimes become unstable because my feelings get ahead of me, or push myself to the edge because I feel pressured to do well.”

“But Sun Woo knows how to cut people off when she needs to,” Han added. “I’m a little naive in that sense. Maybe Sun Woo can do it because she’s rich,” she joked.

Working with Choi also changed her perception of the veteran actor. While she initially found him intimidating, she said his playful personality eventually made him seem “cute and lovable.”

The actress was especially impressed by his approach to rehearsals.

“I always thought of myself as someone who learns on set, so I used to take script readings pretty casually,” Han said. “But he would give 100% even during the readings. Watching him made me realize, ‘I wasn’t someone who learned on set. I just wasn’t prepared enough.'”

Asked what kind of real-life internship she would try if given the chance, Han had an unexpected answer: entertainment reporter.

“You get to cover stories and interview celebrities you want to meet,” she said. “If I became a reporter, I would definitely want to interview Jun Ji Hyun.”

Han recalled seeing Jun for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

“She was wearing a white dress, and she honestly didn’t look human,” Han said. “She was a goddess. I found myself wanting to sit down and actually have a real conversation with her.”

The conversation eventually turned to Han’s personal life, where she revealed plans to marry before turning 40 and a strong desire to become a mother.

“If I have a child, I’m going to stop acting,” she said. “At least until my child starts elementary school, I don’t want to act. I want to devote myself entirely to raising them and give them all the love I have.”

As for her ideal partner, Han joked, “I definitely want to marry someone stable. Especially someone who’s stable and genetically handsome.”

The Intern opens in theaters on September 16th.
