With its unexpected mix of stars, Project Y is already building buzz—and new casting stories are only fueling the excitement.

Project Y follows Mi Seon and Do Kyung, two women chasing different tomorrows in the heart of a glittering city, who find themselves at life’s edge after stealing dirty money.

Han So Hee stars as Mi Seon, a young woman who risks everything for a shot at an ordinary life. Explaining why she chose the project, Han said, “When I first read the script, part of me wondered, ‘Can I really do this?’ But at the same time, I felt there were things I could do very well. More than anything, it felt like a character I could only take on now, with the boldness of youth. That’s why I decided to challenge myself alongside Jeon Jong Seo.”

Playing Do Kyung, who makes a dangerous choice at the brink, Jeon Jong Seo shared, “It’s not easy to make a film with an actress your own age, so I decided almost immediately. Just knowing Han So Hee—a friend and colleague—would be on set gave me strength.”

Director Lee Hwan revealed he had both actresses in mind while writing the script. “I believed that if Han So Hee and Jeon Jong Seo played these roles, the characters would feel convincing and emotionally compelling to audiences,” he said.

The cast expands with Kim Shin Rock, who brings an intense edge to Ga Young, a character who seizes a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Lee cited Kim’s unforgettable performance in Hellbound as his inspiration. Jung Young Joo transforms into the ruthless Hwang So, a role Lee envisioned for her early on after seeing photos from her shaved-head days. Jung recalled, “The script was fun and fast-paced. Once I heard who else was cast, there was no reason to say no.”

Also joining are Lee Jae Kyoon as Seok Gu, whose instinct-driven performance earned praise from the director, YooA as Ha Kyung, cast after Lee spotted new potential in her stage presence, and Kim Sung Cheol as the imposing To Sa Jang, inspired by his striking turn in Sweet Home Season 1.

Summing up the ensemble, Lee said, “Audiences will get to enjoy the collision between characters that fully showcase each actor’s unique style. It’s a fast, energetic film—something you can watch lightly and have a great time with.”

A crime entertainment film set to kick off 2026, Project Y opens in theaters on January 21st, 2026.
