Netflix has unveiled the main poster and trailer for upcoming romantic comedy series Take Charge of My Heart, starring Kim Young Kwang and Chae Soo Bin.
Premiering on October 9th, the series follows a man whose artificial heart is running out of battery and a woman with the electrical power to recharge him. Netflix describes the show as an “electrifying romantic comedy,” pairing a familiar K-romcom setup with a fantasy twist.
Kim stars as Baek Ho Rang, a chaebol heir whose one weakness is his artificial heart, while Chae plays Na Bo Bae, a screenwriter who developed mysterious electrical powers after being struck by lightning as a child. Because her touch can electrocute others, Bo Bae has spent much of her life keeping people at a distance.
The newly released poster and trailer show how the pair become bound by an unusual “charging contract.” After the two accidentally kiss, Bo Bae realizes that Ho Rang is somehow immune to her electricity, making him her first-ever “shockproof” man.
Their situation soon reverses when Ho Rang’s artificial heart battery begins running dangerously low. For reasons neither understands, his heart recharges whenever Bo Bae is close to him, prompting him to ask her to stay with him for the three months until his next surgery.
Bo Bae has her own reason to accept. With three months left on her writing contract, she needs firsthand romantic experience to complete a romance screenplay despite having never been able to date because of her electric touch. Ho Rang agrees to help her check off a “romance bucket list” in exchange for keeping his heart charged.
As the pair begin living together, their practical arrangement starts generating more personal sparks. Complicating matters is Ji Eun Ho (Cha Woo Min), a top star and Bo Bae’s longtime No. 1 fan, setting up a love triangle. Jung Jae Kwang also stars as TS Group troublemaker Choi Do Yoon, with Shin Do Hyun as ambitious strategist Han Seol Hee.
Take Charge of My Heart premieres October 9th exclusively on Netflix.
