Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi was reportedly involved in a domestic dispute that led to a police call just 10 days after his wedding.
According to Japanese media outlet Josei Seven Plus on September 28th, an emergency call was made to Japan’s 110 emergency number from Sakaguchi’s residence in the early hours of September 17th. The caller was reportedly Sakaguchi’s wife, and the couple was said to have been involved in a heated argument at the time.
Josei Seven Plus said it contacted Sakaguchi’s agency for comment about the police response but did not receive a response by the publication deadline.
Sakaguchi announced his marriage through his paid fan club website on September 6th, revealing that he had married a non-celebrity woman he had been dating. “I will continue to strive further as an actor,” he wrote. His agency confirmed the marriage the same day.
His wife is reportedly a hair and makeup artist who is three years older than Sakaguchi. Japanese weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun reported last year that the two had been dating for about four years and living together in Tokyo.
The magazine also reported allegations that Sakaguchi had been involved with actress Mei Nagano while he was dating his now-wife. Those claims were reported as allegations and have not been independently confirmed.
Born in 1991, Sakaguchi began his career as a model in 2010 before making the transition to acting. His film credits include Our Little Sister, Heroine Disqualified, My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday and The Last Ten Years. He has also appeared in dramas including Dr. Koto’s Clinic, I’m Sorry, I Love You and the Japanese adaptation of Signal.
Sakaguchi has also gained recognition in Korea, where he has been dubbed the “look-alike of Seo Kang Joon.” Korean viewers may know him from the Coupang Play series What Comes After Love. He is also set to star in the upcoming drama kiDnap GAME, which will premiere on Channel A and Disney Plus in October.
