BTS took home three awards at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, including the night’s top honor, Song of the Year.
The awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles on September 27 (local time), where BTS won Song of the Year for “SWIM,” a track from their fifth full-length album, ARIRANG.
The win marks a major milestone for the group. BTS was previously nominated for Song of the Year in 2021 with “Dynamite,” becoming the first Korean artist to receive a nomination in the category. They did not win that year.
This year, “SWIM” competed against “Golden” by Huntrix from KPop Demon Hunters, “Bring Your Love” by Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter, “Stateside” by PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson, and “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” by Lay.
BTS also won Best Group and Best K-Pop, bringing their total number of awards at the 2026 MTV VMAs to three.
