On a recent episode of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, which aired on Wednesday, the show took on a “My Destiny” special, featuring a lineup that sparked interest across the board. Among the guests were Kim Min Young, the head of Netflix Asia Pacific content, actress Gong Hyo Jin‘s mother and chairman of the “Food Truck of Love” charity, Kim Ok Ran, and actor Kim Soo Hyun. They joined hosts Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho for a series of engaging talks.
During the episode, Yoo Jae Suk caught a glimpse of Kim Ok Ran’s smile and couldn’t help but remark, “When you smile like that, I can see Gong Hyo Jin.” Jo Se Ho chimed in, noting the similarity even in the way they smiled. Kim Ok Ran, with a laugh, said, “Her last name may be Gong, but she’s got my blood.”
Kim Ok Ran also reminisced about her initial reaction to her daughter’s relationship with a younger man, recalling, “I was like, ‘Have you lost it?'” That younger man turned out to be Kevin Oh, ten years Gong Hyo Jin’s junior. Kim Ok Ran expressed her current fondness for her son-in-law, stating, “I’m so happy with him now. It would have been a disaster if I had insisted they not go through with it. He’s very mature, considerate, and just so lovely.”
Moreover, she sent a heartfelt video message to Kevin Oh, who is currently fulfilling his military duty, saying, “I’m worried how cold you must be at the frontline, but I’m so proud of how well you’re doing. Once you’re back, I’ll make you something delicious.”
