SBS drama My Royal Nemesis is giving fans a closer look at Heo Nam Jun’s standout suits.

On May 28th, the Friday-Saturday drama released behind-the-scenes photos of Heo Nam Jun, who stars as male lead Cha Se Gye.

Heo completes the character through a range of custom suits. Early in the drama, he wears darker tones such as all-black, navy and deep burgundy, building the image of Cha Se Gye as a notorious troublemaker with a sharp edge. As his feelings begin to grow for Joseon villainess Shin Seo Ri (Lim Ji Yeon), his styling also takes on a more romantic shift.

Stylist Shim Yoon Jung, who created Heo’s swoon-worthy looks, shared how his styling changes with the story.

“In the beginning, we maximized his cold, sharp image with formal styling, including peaked lapels and ties,” Shim explained. “As the romance develops, we used more casual notched lapels, no ties and brighter shirts to express how Se Gye gradually changes because of Seo Ri.”

Shim also broke down the “battle suit” fitting scene from episode 5, where Cha Se Gye prepares for his “courtship war.”

“I thought the suit needed details that were similar to, but different from, his previous suits in order to show its power as ‘battle gear,’” she said. “So we styled him in a sharp three-piece suit with a tie pin to show that not all all-black suits are the same. We also added a silk shirt to emphasize Se Gye’s masculinity.”

With styling that elevates the character’s appeal, Heo Nam Jun has pulled viewers deeper into Cha Se Gye’s charm.

That growing buzz has also helped My Royal Nemesis gain momentum in the ratings. According to Nielsen Korea, the drama premiered at 4.1% nationwide on May 8th and crossed 10% by episode 6. It recorded 9.5% for episode 5 and 10.3% for episode 6, setting new personal bests each week through its third week.

My Royal Nemesis airs episode 7 on May 29th.
