Popular YouTuber Kim Se Eui, owner of the channel Garosero Research Institute, has been detained on charges of spreading false information against Kim Soo Hyun, including allegations regarding Kim Sae Ron’s relationship with Kim Soo Hyun, which caused financial pressure and the end of his long-running career as a successful actor and model.

After many alleged claims turned up false and revealed that Kim Soo Hyun was innocent despite allegations stated during his trials, the star seeks retribution through debt collection efforts. His legal team has stepped up its legal response, signaling that it may significantly increase its damages claim against the now detained YouTuber Kim Se Eui.

Following Kim’s detention, Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team has stepped up its legal response, signaling that it may significantly increase its damages claim against the YouTuber.

MBC News Today reported that on May 28th attorney Kho Sang Rock, legal counsel for Kim Soo Hyun, stated “Kim Soo Hyun’s actual damages have grown substantially since the allegations first surfaced. When the incident first occurred, we estimated the lawsuit value at approximately 12 billion KRW (about 8.6 million USD) and filed the complaint accordingly. However, we are currently reassessing the damages and may increase the amount of the claim if necessary. The scale of the damage we have reassessed at this point is far greater than it was a year ago.”

Fans were already shocked to discover the news that most of the evidence was fabricated by AI and now Kim Soo Hyun’s legal claims are shaking things up even further. Attorney Kho Sang Rock further stated, “The exact amount of damage still needs to be carefully calculated, but based on the materials submitted to investigative authorities, we believe the losses currently stand at around 30 billion KRW (about 21.4 million USD).”

Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team obtained provisional asset seizures on two Gangnam apartments owned by YouTuber Kim Se Eui; a unit in Seocho Byucksan Blooming in Seoul Seocho District and another in Hanyang Apartment Complex Phase 4 in Apgujeong, Gangnam.

According to reports, the claims associated with the asset seizures totaled 4 billion KRW (around 2.9 million USD), with 2 billion KRW (around 1.4 million USD) attached to each property.

Police investigations concluded that the allegations made by Garosero Research Institute were false, increasing the likelihood that Kim Se Eui could ultimately bear responsibility for those losses. Kim Soo Hyun and his team claim the actor faced damages worth approximately 10 billion KRW (7.1 million USD) from broken advertiser contracts, including Classys, FromBIO, Cuckoo Electronics, and Trendmaker, after Kim Se Eui’s allegations pressed on over the last year.

Under Article 750 of South Korea’s Civil Act, “A person who causes damage to another through an unlawful act committed intentionally or negligently shall be liable for compensation.” Legal experts also note that even if Kim Se Eui were to file for bankruptcy, the debt may not be discharged. Article 566(3) of South Korea’s Debtor Rehabilitation and Bankruptcy Act classifies damages from intentional unlawful acts as non-dischargeable claims, citing the obligation to pay these debts remains intact even after bankruptcy proceeds.

With Kim Se Eui now in custody and Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team writing damage claims of up to 30 billion KRW (about 21.4 million USD), all eyes are on the case and people wonder how detained YouTuber Kim Se Eui will respond to the mounting legal and financial burdens.
