A path has opened for Kim Soo Hyun’s return. A year after a tearful press conference, he shared, “I am grateful for your trust and patience.”
Gold Medalist released an official statement today addressing the allegations made by Kim Se Ui, the operator of Hover Lab, who was arrested on May 26.
The agency stated, “Regarding the multiple lawsuits and complaints filed by Kim Soo Hyun and our company against Kim Se Ui of Hover Lab, the investigation confirmed that the various allegations and evidence presented by Hover Lab against Kim Soo Hyun were false.”
The investigation revealed that a KakaoTalk conversation presented at a previous press conference had been fabricated using exchanges involving a third party completely unrelated to Kim Soo Hyun. Furthermore, voice recordings allegedly of the late actress were found to be AI-generated.
The agency continued, “The court issued an arrest warrant for Kim Se Ui, recognizing the seriousness of the charges, including violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation through false information), the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, and the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (distribution of illegally filmed content and coercion using filmed material), as well as threats.”
Expressing gratitude toward the authorities, the agency added, “We are deeply grateful to the investigative agencies for uncovering the truth based on objective evidence. A year ago, Kim Soo Hyun stated at a press conference, ‘I will not ask you to believe me. I will prove it.’ Over the past year, he devoted himself solely to keeping that promise. Finally, through legal procedures and a thorough investigation, the truth has been revealed.” They concluded by thanking supporters, saying, “We sincerely thank everyone who believed in and waited for Kim Soo Hyun during this difficult time.”
Kim Se Ui was arrested on May 26 after being accused of spreading false information about the actor. Judge Boo Dong Sik of the Seoul Central District Court issued the warrant, citing concerns over flight risk and possible destruction of evidence. Kim Se Ui faces multiple charges, including defamation, threats, attempted coercion, and the illegal distribution of filmed content. Even after the warrant hearing, he denied all allegations, stating, “I do not admit to any of the charges.”
Kim Se Ui is accused of falsely claiming that Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron while she was still a minor, and that financial pressure over debt repayment directly contributed to her death. To support these claims, he allegedly used AI technology to fabricate the late actress’s voice and presented forged text messages during a press conference last March. Investigators have now concluded that all of the evidence was fabricated.
