G-Dragon briefly turned heads after “liking” an Instagram post about Kim Soo Hyun’s recent legal victory against defamation, only to quickly undo the like after it sparked online debate.
Screenshots began circulating across online communities on May 29, showing that the BIGBANG star had liked a post detailing a major statement from Kim’s agency, Gold Medalist. The statement announced that an official investigation had debunked rumors spread by the controversial YouTube channel HoverLab, particularly claims that Kim had dated actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor.
In the post, Gold Medalist stated, “Kim Soo Hyun promised, ‘I will not ask you to believe me. I will prove it.’ For the past year, Kim Soo Hyun has dedicated himself to keeping that promise. Finally, the truth has been confirmed through legal procedures and investigation.” The agency added, “We are deeply grateful to everyone who believed in and waited for Kim Soo Hyun during this time.”
Because G-Dragon and Kim Soo Hyun are known to be close friends—both born in 1988 and having appeared together on the variety show “Good Day”—many fans viewed the like as a subtle show of support.
However, others argued that the move was too hasty and controversial, leading G-Dragon to remove the like quietly.

Some fans defended him, pointing out that liking a social media post is a personal choice and noting that he frequently interacts with a wide range of content online.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team is preparing to file a 40 billion won ($2.9 million) damages lawsuit against Hover Lab head Kim Se Ui. The Seoul Gangnam Police Station recently concluded that the YouTuber allegedly used AI-generated fake audio recordings, prompting a court to issue an arrest warrant on charges including blackmail, defamation, and violations of sexual crime laws. Kim Se Ui has strongly denied the allegations during his warrant review.
