Shosei Ohira of the popular Japanese boy group JO1 will be leaving the band following the termination of his contract.
His agency, Lapone Entertainment, announced on April 27th that his exclusive management agreement will officially end on May 31st, 2026, marking the conclusion of all his activities with the group.
The agency explained that Shosei Ohira presented specific proposals regarding his future career goals during a recent hiatus. The company stated, “We have come to this decision out of respect for his wishes after extensive discussion.” They continued, “We deeply apologize to our fans for delivering this sudden news.” Details regarding his postponed fan events and benefits will be released separately at a later date.
JO1 was originally formed as an 11-member group through the 2019 reality competition series PRODUCE 101 JAPAN. The group has maintained a massive following by successfully bringing the global “Produce” audition system to the Japanese music market.
