Tzuyu, a 27-year-old member of the K-pop group TWICE, is leaving JYP Entertainment after 11 years with the agency.
News1 reported on July 14th that Tzuyu has decided not to renew her exclusive contract with JYP. However, she is expected to continue participating in future activities as a full member of TWICE.
Tzuyu debuted in 2015 with TWICE, a group that quickly earned the title of South Korea’s “nation’s girl group” thanks to a string of massive hits including “Like OOH-AHH,” “Cheer Up” and “TT.”
As a lead dancer and the main visual of the group, Tzuyu garnered an immense global fanbase. She made her debut as a solo artist in 2024 with her first mini-album, abouTZU, showcasing her growth by contributing to the songwriting for both TWICE tracks and her solo work.
Given her massive popularity in South Korea and her home country of Taiwan, Tzuyu is expected to expand her career even further on the global stage. Meanwhile, TWICE recently wrapped up their highly successful sixth world tour, “THIS IS FOR,” which spanned roughly a year.
UPDATE:
In response to the report, JYP Entertainment told TV Report on the same day, “We are currently in discussions with the TWICE members regarding their contract renewals. We will make an official announcement once the details have been finalized,” declining to comment further.
