TWICE’s Sana is taking on acting for the first time, making her big-screen debut 11 years after her idol debut.
According to OSEN on July 8th, Sana recently received an offer for the upcoming film Kitty (working title) and decided to appear in the project. It marks her first acting role and film debut after years of global success as a member of TWICE.
Kitty is a Korea-Japan co-production that will star Japanese top actor Takeru Satoh and Sana as the male and female leads. The film will be directed by Kwon Hyuk Chan of One Sunny Day and produced by COX, NPIO and Japan’s JACON. Filming is set to begin in Japan in the second half of the year, with the crew made up entirely of Korean staff.
TWICE, which debuted in 2015, has maintained its original nine-member lineup without any departures or member changes. More than 10 years into their career, the group continues to enjoy major popularity with a powerful global fandom. At the same time, members including Dahyun, Jeongyeon and Sana have been broadening their careers beyond music and into acting.
Sana’s screen debut in the Korea-Japan film Kitty is already drawing attention, especially with Satoh, often called a “romance master” and beloved by many fans globally, starring opposite her.
Meanwhile, TWICE is currently on their THIS IS FOR world tour and will hold the finale concerts at KSPO DOME in Seoul from July 10 to 12.
