ADOR, the label under HYBE, has lowered its damages claim against former NewJeans member Danielle and former CEO Min Hee Jin from 43.1 billion won ($27.9 million) to 33.09 billion won ($21.4 million).
A representative for ADOR told News1 on June 5th, “We appointed a new legal team, reviewed the case, and restructured the claim. The amount has been adjusted as a result.” The representative added, “We plan to continue strengthening our arguments and evidence as the lawsuit moves forward.”
Earlier, five lawyers from Kim & Chang, who had been representing ADOR, resigned in April. The first hearing for the original 43.1 billion won ($27.9 million) lawsuit was held on May 14th.
Danielle’s lawyers argued that ADOR is intentionally dragging out the case. “The plaintiff seems to be prolonging this lawsuit regardless of the outcome, forcing Danielle to waste her prime years as an idol on legal disputes,” they said.
ADOR, however, denied interfering with Danielle’s career. Their legal representative stated, “We have never blocked Danielle’s entertainment activities, and we have no objections to her pursuing them.”
The next hearing is scheduled for June 11th at 2 PM.
