ADOR has initiated proceedings to seize assets from Danielle, her mother and former CEO Min Hee Jin.
According to a report from Ilyo Shinmun on April 29, the Seoul Central District Court has granted ADOR’s request to temporarily seize real estate owned by Danielle‘s mother and former CEO Min Hee Jin. This decision came after ADOR filed for asset seizures in February. The court approved claims totaling 7 billion won ($4.7 million), 5 billion won ($3.4 million) for Min Hee Jin and 2 billion won ($1.4 million) for Danielle’s mother.
In December 2025, ADOR filed a lawsuit seeking 43 billion won ($29 million) in damages against Danielle’s mother and former CEO Min Hee Jin. In January, ADOR also sought to have assets seized from the two individuals. As a result, Min Hee Jin’s apartment in Yongsan-gu and a villa in Mapo-gu have been temporarily frozen, preventing their sale or transfer. Danielle’s mother’s villa in Gwangjin-gu and an office in Anyang-si have also been frozen.
May is expected to be a key month in this dispute. On May 14th, the court will hear ADOR’s lawsuit seeking 43.1 billion won ($29.1 million) in damages from Danielle, her family and former CEO Min.
The next day, May 15th, hearings will continue for lawsuits filed by Source Music and Belift Lab against former CEO Min, seeking a total of 2.5 billion won ($1.7 million) in damages.
Belift Lab filed a lawsuit against Min Hee Jin for around 2 billion won ($1.4 million), accusing her of using ILLIT as a scapegoat and spreading false plagiarism claims. In response, Min Hee Jin’s team argued that pointing out similarities was a legitimate right and duty, and that private conversations had been taken out of context.
Meanwhile, Danielle was dropped from NewJeans in December of last year. At the time, ADOR announced, “We have determined that it is difficult for Danielle to continue as a member of NewJeans and an artist under ADOR, and we have notified her of the termination of her exclusive contract today.” They added, “We plan to hold legally responsible one member of Danielle’s family and former CEO Min Hee Jin, who are significantly responsible for causing this dispute and delaying NewJeans’ return,” signaling legal action.
Amid the growing legal battles, there’s news about NewJeans returning to work. The remaining members of NewJeans have returned to ADOR and are preparing for a comeback, following Danielle’s departure and the termination of her exclusive contract in December. Recently, Haerin, Hyein and Hanni were spotted in Denmark, sparking rumors of a trio comeback.
Meanwhile, there’s curiosity about Minji’s absence, as she wasn’t involved in these activities. Reports say she’s in talks with her agency about her future plans, and it’s still unclear if she will rejoin the group.
