Wild Sing, starring Gang Dong Won, Park Ji Hyun and Um Tae Goo, premiered at its first press screening on May 19th, ahead of its June 3rd release.
Domestic media outlets were among the first to watch the film at the screening, and here are the diverse reviews that poured in immediately afterward.
Sports TV News praised the film, stating, “It’s a genuinely well-made comedy that doesn’t betray audience expectations. The heartwarming and overwhelming emotions are a bonus. It’s a work that even takes you on a fake memory trip, evoking fond recollections of the K-pop group Triangle.”

OSEN commented, “The main part of Wild Sing is even funnier than the trailer. A comedy film has done its job if it makes people laugh enough.” They added, “Just when you start to wonder, ‘Is the trailer all there is?’, the movie proves otherwise, delivering nonstop laughs and keeping the fun going all the way to the end.”
Herald Muse noted, “Catchy K-pop sensibility meets nonstop comedy like a sing-along. The perfect comedic synergy between Gang Dong Won, Um Tae Goo, Park Ji Hyun and Oh Jung Se delivers not only cheerful laughter but also an unexpectedly touching lingering impression. Upon leaving the theater, you’ll find yourself undeniably drawn into the world of Wild Sing.”
My Daily highlighted, “The film’s biggest strength is its music. The catchy melodies and lyrics stay in your head even after you leave the theater. From Triangle’s debut song to Seong Gon’s confession song, it offers a wide range of music that delights the ears. When the music plays in the theater, it takes audiences back to the 2000s.”

Maeil Business Newspaper stated, “Wild Sing is hard to describe in one word. It’s not perfect enough to fully praise, but it’s also too engaging to call a failure, as it keeps you watching until the end.” The newspaper added, “It feels like going in expecting a team effort but coming out remembering strong individual performances. Paradoxically, those performances end up saving the film.”
News1 assessed, “The biggest strength of Wild Sing is its humor. The actors stay true to their characters, the film pays detailed homage to the 1990s K-pop scene, and director Son Jae Gon’s unique sense of humor all come together to create a high laugh rate.”
