Byeon Woo Seok, who rose to breakout fame through the hit drama Lovely Runner, has reportedly purchased a luxury home at Hannam The Hill in Seoul for 13 billion won (approximately $9.7 million), paying the full amount in cash.
According to real estate finance industry sources and the Supreme Court Internet Registry Office on September 10th, the actor bought a 235-square-meter unit at the Yongsan-gu complex in May and completed the transfer of ownership after making the final payment on September 2nd.
The registry shows no mortgage registered on the unit, leading to speculation that the purchase was made entirely in cash.
Built in 2011 on the former site of Dankook University, Hannam The Hill consists of 600 units across 32 buildings. Known for its spacious residences, low floor-area ratio and expansive landscaped grounds, the complex has become one of the best-known symbols of South Korea’s luxury housing market.
It is also credited with helping shift demand for high-end housing beyond Gangnam and boosting Hannam-dong’s reputation as one of Seoul’s most sought-after residential neighborhoods.
A number of prominent business executives and celebrities are reportedly residents of Hannam The Hill, including Ock Joo Hyun, So Ji Sub, Choo Ja Hyun, Lee Yo Won, Lee Young Ja and Lee Seung Chul.
Born in 1991, Byeon Woo Seok debuted as a model in 2010 before beginning his acting career with tvN’s Dear My Friends in 2016. His credits include 20th Century Girl, Soulmate, Record of Youth, Strong Girl Nam-soon, Lovely Runner and the latest hit Perfect Crown.
