Woo Do Hwan is opening up about the intense physical prep behind Bloodhounds Season 2.
At the Netflix series’ press conference held March 31st, Woo Do Hwan revealed he gained about 13 kilograms (around 29 pounds) to reflect his character’s growth. “To show the changes of a character who’s been training consistently for three years, I gained about 13kg,” he said. “I bulked up for Season 1 as well, but this time I added about 5kg to that.”
Having gone through the process before, he admitted it felt more manageable the second time around. “Since I’d done it once in Season 1, I thought Season 2 might be a bit easier,” Woo shared. “Working out is something you can build up steadily, so I found it relatively easier compared to other aspects.”
He added, “For an actor, building your body is easier than changing your inner self or studying the script to fully develop a character.”
Season 2, arriving three years after the debut season, sees Geon U (Woo Do Hwan) and Woo Jin (Lee Sang Yi) go up against a global underground boxing league fueled by money and violence. Rain joins the cast as Baek Jeong, the powerful villain behind the illegal operation.
Woo returns as Geon U, a determined boxer chasing his dream of becoming a champion. After finally reaching a title match, he becomes the target of Baek Jeong, pulling him into a dangerous new fight.
Reflecting on returning for Season 2, he said, “It feels like we’ve spent a long time together. I’m honored to be back here thanks to all the love Season 1 received.”
He also pointed to Geon U’s growth as a key focus this season. “He’s been training to become a world champion and has grown a lot,” he said. “He’s also become closer with Woo Jin. If he had a rookie vibe before, this time I wanted to show him maturing into more of an adult.”
Bloodhounds Season 2 will be released as a 7-episode series on Netflix on April 3rd.
