Kim Min Ha has been named the sole host of the opening ceremony for the 31st Busan International Film Festival.
The festival will run for 10 days from Oct. 6 to 15 at the Busan Cinema Center and surrounding venues.
After successfully introducing a competition section last year, BIFF selected Kim to lead the opening of its next chapter as the festival continues to strengthen its global presence.
Since making her debut in 2016, Kim has steadily built a diverse career across film and television. She rose to international prominence as young Sunja in Apple TV’s Pachinko, delivering a nuanced performance as a woman navigating a turbulent period in history.
The role earned her the Breakout in TV award at the 2022 Asian American Awards and established her as a rising talent on the global stage.
Kim has since expanded her range through projects including Light Shop, Way Back Love, Typhoon Family and the 2026 film Hana Korea.
Her recent honors include Outstanding Asian Star at the 2025 Seoul International Drama Awards, Best New Actress at the 2025 Blue Dragon Series Awards and Rising Star Actress at the 2026 Korea First Brand Awards.
Known for bringing quiet strength and emotional depth to her roles, Kim is expected to bring the same poise and confidence to the festival’s opening night.
The 31st Busan International Film Festival will take place from Oct. 6 to 15.
