Chef Kim Do Yun, who rose to fame through Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars, and actress Kim Seo Yeon have gone public with their relationship after four years of dating.
On July 30, production company STUDIO SLAM uploaded a YouTube video titled, “You Slid Into My DMs, So Why Won’t You Tag Me?”
Appearing as a guest, Kim Seo Yeon shared that she had been dating her boyfriend for about four years, but said he never acknowledged her on social media.
She then revealed that he was also there, prompting Kim Do Yun to make a surprise entrance into the studio.
Explaining why they had kept their relationship private, Kim said, “We thought that if one of us made a mistake and it became an issue, it could also hurt the other person. We wanted to protect each other.”
The couple also revealed that Kim first approached Seo Yeon through an Instagram DM, inviting her out for pork belly.
Despite dating for four years, the two admitted that they currently do not follow each other on social media. “We blocked and unblocked each other so many times whenever we fought that it just became easier not to follow each other,” Seo Yeon joked.
By the end of the video, the couple said they were ready to follow each other again. Kim later reposted their photo shared by Seo Yeon, drawing congratulations from fans.
Kim Do Yun appeared on Seasons 1 and 2 of Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars. He previously revealed that his girlfriend was the one who encouraged him to join the show.
Kim Seo Yeon made her acting debut in the 1999 film Memento Mori. She has since appeared in dramas including Hyena, The King of Tears, Lee Bangwon and Juvenile Justice, as well as the film Fengshui.
