Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi are gearing up for the return of Netflix’s Bloodhounds, and they’re giving fans a closer look at their chemistry both on and off screen.
Ahead of Season 2, the two actors shared updates through a joint photoshoot and interview for Esquire Korea.
When asked what references they looked to for inspiration, Lee Sang Yi said, “I watched ‘Fight Club.’ The director also recommended the ‘X-Men’ series. In a way, it’s similar—characters with different strengths coming together to take on a villain.”
Woo Do Hwan added, “I looked to Tom Cruise’s action films,” hinting at the different influences they each brought into shaping their performances.

Both actors also spoke about the intense physical preparation required for the series. Known for their impressive builds in Season 1, they pushed themselves even further this time around.
“Back in Season 1, I learned boxing for the role,” Lee Sang Yi said. “But while preparing for Season 2, I really came to appreciate boxing itself.” He even revealed that he competed in an amateur boxing match last year.
Woo Do Hwan shared that the project changed his entire fitness routine. “I’d been weight training for nearly 10 years, but Season 1 of ‘Bloodhounds’ was the first time I properly trained with a professional trainer,” he said. “Now I go to the gym almost every day.”
The pair also reflected on the experience of returning to a series format. “It’s an interesting system,” Woo Do Hwan said. “Reuniting with people you’ve already worked with feels really nice.”

Lee Sang Yi agreed, adding, “Since we built that foundation in Season 1, we were able to dive into our roles and the world much faster this time. I thought I might’ve forgotten some of it, but once filming started, it all came back quickly.”
As for their on-screen relationship, Lee Sang Yi summed it up with a playful twist. “We joke that it’s beyond bromance—it’s more like ‘bro-romance,’” he said, hinting at an even deeper emotional connection between their characters.
