BTS member Jin has sold one of his luxurious apartments at Hannam The Hill in Seoul’s Yongsan District for 12.7 billion won ($10 million).
According to court registration records, Jin sold the 235㎡ (about 2,530 sq ft) unit on April 6th and completed the ownership transfer on July 27th after receiving the remaining payment.
Jin originally purchased the apartment in July 2019 for 4.49 billion won ($3.1 million). Based on the purchase and sale prices alone, he earned a profit of approximately 8.2 billion won ($5.7 million) over the nearly seven years he owned the property.
No mortgage was registered when Jin purchased the apartment, suggesting that he paid for it in cash. The buyer born in 1979, also appears to have completed the purchase without taking out a mortgage.
Jin has owned three units at Hannam The Hill in total. In November 2019, he purchased another unit measuring 206㎡ for 4.27 billion won ($3 million), and in March 2025, he bought a larger 243㎡ unit for 17.5 billion won ($12 million), setting a record price for the complex at the time.
Following the recent sale, Jin now owns two units at Hannam The Hill.
The timing of the sale also drew attention, as the contract was signed in April, shortly before the government reinstated higher capital gains taxes for multiple homeowners in designated areas starting May 10th.
Meanwhile, property taxes for luxury homes are expected to rise. According to an estimate by Woo Byung Tak, a specialist at Shinhan Premier Pathfinder, annual property taxes for a 235㎡ unit at Hannam The Hill could increase from 87.3 million won ($60,730) this year to 137.2 million won ($95,440) next year.
Hannam The Hill is one of South Korea’s most exclusive apartment complexes. Developed by Daewoo E&C and Kumho Industrial, the complex was completed in 2011 and consists of 600 units across 32 buildings.
Known for its privacy, spacious layouts, and high-end facilities, Hannam The Hill has long been popular among celebrities and business leaders. Past and current residents include LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang Mo, NCsoft CEO Kim Taek Jin, actors Ahn Sung Ki, So Ji Sub, and Han Hyo Joo, as well as singer Park Hyo Shin. BTS also previously lived there as a group dormitory.
