Ji Chang Wook is already hyping up his next project—a fantasy romantic comedy with none other than Jun Ji Hyun, whom he calls the perfect actor to play a seductive, 2,000-year-old gumiho.
During an interview done on the 11th for his Disney Plus series The Manipulated, Ji Chang Wook spoke about teaming up with Jun Ji Hyun again for their upcoming drama Human x Gumiho (literal title).
The Manipulated follows Park Tae Joong (Ji Chang Wook), an ordinary young man whose life collapses after he’s falsely framed for a brutal crime. When he learns the entire setup was orchestrated by Yohan (Do Kyung Soo), Tae Joong sets out on a dangerous path of revenge.
When asked about his next project, Ji Chang Wook lit up. Human x Gumiho tells the story of a bewitching supernatural being that lures humans, and a human who unknowingly attracts dangerous spirits—two unlikely figures whose fates collide in a fantasy rom-com.

Jun Ji Hyun plays Gu Ja Hong, a beloved actress with irresistible beauty and supernatural charm—because she’s actually a two-millennia-old gumiho. Ji Chang Wook transforms into Choi Seok, a talented shaman and the director of the Oseong Museum.
“I first met Jun Ji Hyun last year while working on the film ‘Colony,'” he shared. “Now we’re doing ‘Human x Gumiho’ together, and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Ji Chang Wook didn’t hold back on his admiration for her casting: “The moment I read the script, I thought, ‘There’s no one who could play this gumiho better than Jun Ji Hyun.’ She’s just perfect for it.” He added, “Getting to work with her again feels like an honor. I’m really excited, and I want to create fun, memorable scenes together.”
Meanwhile, all 12 episodes of The Manipulated were released on Disney Plus on December 3rd.
