The highly anticipated Netflix original series The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call is set to begin production.
MyDaily reported on September 29th that the main cast of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call gathered for their first script reading today,. Fewer than 10 cast members attended the small-scale reading, while some were unable to make it due to scheduling conflicts and other commitments.
Much of the attention was on Jeong Yein, who has been cast as Cheon Jang Mi, replacing Ha Young. Ha Young left the series after controversy surrounding revelations that her great-grandfather had collaborated with Japan during the colonial era.
Several actresses reportedly auditioned for the role before Jeong Yein was ultimately selected. Although the casting decision had already been made internally and her agency, Sublime Artist Agency, was aware of it, the agency initially stated by stating that “nothing has been discussed.”
Jeong Yein made her debut in 2014 as a member of Lovelyz. She has since appeared in web dramas such as The Blue Sea and My Friends Graduation Ceremony. This will mark her first leading role in a highly anticipated long-form production.
Trauma Center follows a genius surgeon who has worked on battlefields as he takes on the challenge of rebuilding an underperforming trauma center. The production is scheduled to film Seasons 2 and 3 back-to-back, beginning next month.
