RM, leader of BTS, is set to make history as the first K-pop artist to deliver a keynote speech at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

On October 29th at 3:05 PM KST, RM will appear as a keynote speaker at the APEC CEO Summit, presenting under the theme “Cultural Creative Industries in the APEC Region and the Soft Power of K-Culture.”

This marks the first time a K-pop singer has ever been invited to speak at an APEC event. Drawing on his extensive experience performing on global stages, RM is expected to discuss the influence and growing importance of K-culture within the global creative economy.

RM previously made headlines in 2018 when he represented BTS at the UNICEF Youth Agenda event, becoming the first Korean artist to speak at a UN General Assembly session. His message to young people—”Love yourself, and speak yourself”—resonated around the world. He later returned to the UN in 2020 and 2021, delivering further speeches of hope to youth across the globe.

This year’s APEC CEO Summit will be held from October 28th to 31st at the Gyeongju Arts Center, with leaders from 16 of the 21 APEC member nations and more than 1,700 participants, including business figures and policymakers, in attendance.
