Bong Joon Ho’s New Film ‘Mickey 17’ Confirmed to Premiere First in Korea in January 2025

Four-time Oscar winner Bong Joon Ho‘s new film Mickey 17 (working title) has been confirmed for global release on January 28th, 2025, with Korea as the first country to premiere.

Adapted from the 2022 novel Mickey7 by Ashton Edward, the film is co-produced by Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B, alongside Bong Joon Ho’s Offscreen Productions and producer Dooho Choi of Kate Street Picture Company. The cast includes Robert Pattinson, Steven Yeon, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo.

Mickey 17 has also confirmed its screening in various special formats, including IMAX, 4DX, Dolby, and ScreenX, promising audiences an immersive screen experience that can only be found in theaters.

Andrew Cripps, President of International Distribution at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, who decided to release Mickey 17 in Korea first during the Lunar New Year, said, “Bong Joon Ho’s imagination, vision, and creativity always take us beyond our expectations. Mickey 17 will also surprise everyone with its original story and characters, unpredictable twists and humor and outstanding production quality. We have decided to release the film in the director’s home country first in the world. All of us at Warner Bros. are excited to be able to showcase the movie in Korea first before showing it to audiences around the world.”

Mickey 17 will hit theaters on January 28th, 2025.
