Hong Kyung and Roh Yoon Seo are set to star in the Korean remake of the Taiwanese film Hear Me.

On May 15, a source told Sports Chosun, “Hong Kyung and Roh Yoon Seo will be leading the Korean remake of the Taiwanese movie Hear Me.” Hear Me tells the love story of a boy who falls in love at first sight with a girl who communicates with sign language. As the story is adapted for a Korean audience, some changes are expected.

Soon after the report, Hong Kyung’s agency Management mmm and Roh Yoon Seo’s agency MAA both confirmed, “The actor is positively considering the role in the Korean remake of Hear Me.”

The original film had a solid fanbase in Korea at the time of its release, often mentioned alongside other popular Taiwanese romances such as Secret, You Are the Apple of My Eye, and Our Times. The Taiwanese version starred Eddie Peng and Ivy Chen.

Both Hong Kyung and Roh Yoon Seo are rising stars in the Korean entertainment industry. Roh Yoon Seo gained recognition through her roles in the tvN dramas Our Blues and Crash Course in Romance and the movie 20th Century Girl, and also made a special appearance in the recently released Netflix original series Black Knight. Hong Kyung has made a strong impression with his leading role in the hit Wavve original series Weak Hero Class 1 and the Netflix series D.P.

The Korean version will be helmed by A day director Cho Sun Ho and is scheduled to begin filming in August.
