Kang Ha Neul has officially joined the new KBS drama A Tree Dies Standing Up (literal title).
A Tree Dies Standing Up tells the story of a theater actor who acts as the grandson of an elderly woman from the North to fulfill her final wish.
Kang Ha Neul takes on the role of Yoo Jae Heon, an optimistic man who is full of self-love and self-esteem, unlike the deficient life he had led. He is an obscure actor of a theater company who lives by his motto of “do the things you want to do.” One day, he faces a turning point in life when he receives an offer from an old gentleman to play the grandson who had defected from the North for an old lady that’s dying.
River Where the Moon Rises director Yoon Sang Ho will join hands with Midnight Runners writer Jo Seong Geol for the new drama. Previously, it was reported that Oscar-winning actress Youn Yuh Jung and Son Ye Jin were in talks to join the production.
Meanwhile, A Tree Dies Standing Up will complete the casting soon and start the production in earnest.
