WINNER’s Mino may be required to complete an additional 102 days of military service following his conviction for violating South Korea’s Military Service Act.

The Military Manpower Administration clarified on October 1st that the details of his additional service have not yet been finalized because the court’s ruling is still subject to appeal.

A Military Manpower Administration official told Star News, “Once the ruling on Mino’s violation of the Military Service Act is finalized, he is expected to serve again for the period he was absent from duty, and the necessary procedures will follow.”

The official added, “Today’s ruling was made at the first trial, so the verdict has not yet been finalized.”

Earlier that day, the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Mino to one year in prison, suspended for two years, for violating the Military Service Act. He was indicted on charges of being absent without authorization during his mandatory service.

According to a SpoTV News report, the Military Manpower Administration indicated that Mino is expected to serve an additional period corresponding to the time he was absent once the court ruling becomes final. Based on the prosecution’s allegation that he was absent for 102 days, he could be required to complete 102 additional days of service.

Mino served as a social service worker, an alternative form of mandatory military service in South Korea, from March 2023 to December 2024. He was assigned to the Mapo District Facility Management Corporation and a local community welfare facility.

Prosecutors alleged that Mino was absent without authorization for 102 days out of approximately 430 scheduled workdays.

Under South Korea’s Military Service Act, an individual who is found to have violated the law may be required to make up the period they were absent from duty, in addition to facing criminal penalties. Administrative measures regarding the individual’s remaining service can also be taken.

However, Mino’s conviction is not yet final because this was a first-trial ruling. He and the prosecution can still appeal, which could affect the final outcome and the length and timing of any additional military service.

Mino’s co-defendant, identified as A, was also sentenced on October 1st to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years.

The Military Manpower Administration is expected to determine Mino’s additional service after the court ruling becomes final.
