New stills of Lee Min Ho have been released from director Hur Jin Ho’s upcoming film The Assassin(s), which centers on the attempted assassination of South Korea’s first lady on August 15th, 1974.
The film follows the lingering questions and hidden forces behind the shooting that shocked the nation. Lee stars as Young Il, a rookie newspaper reporter determined to uncover the truth.
Known for projects including Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy and The Legend of the Blue Sea, Lee also showed a striking new side of himself in Apple TV Plus’s Pachinko. In The Assassin(s), he takes on the role of an ambitious Dongseong Daily reporter driven by passion, courage and an unshakable sense of purpose.
Young Il is sent to cover a Liberation Day ceremony, where he witnesses both the shooting and an innocent person becoming caught up in the tragedy. Refusing to look away, he throws himself into investigating the unanswered questions surrounding the case.
The newly released stills capture the young reporter deep in pursuit of the truth. With his tie loosened and sleeves rolled up, Young Il appears consumed by the investigation as he follows every possible lead.
Another image shows him at a press conference, studying the room with a sharp gaze and determined expression. His confidence and relentless drive hint at the risks he will take to expose what really happened.
The Assassin(s) is set to hit theaters during the Chuseok holiday.
