The first teaser trailer for the upcoming historical thriller Assassins has officially dropped, offering an intense look at the high-stakes investigation following one of South Korea’s most shocking political events.
Set against the real-life backdrop of August 15th, 1974, Assassins follows the chaotic aftermath and conspiracy surrounding the infamous assassination attempt on President Park Chung Hee during a National Liberation Day ceremony.
The teaser opens with a single gunshot piercing through the ceremony, immediately plunging the venue into total panic. From there, the trailer introduces three men driven to uncover what really happened behind the scenes: Yoo Hae Jin as Cheol-gu, a relentless detective hunting down the truth behind the shooter; Park Hae Il as Jae-hwan, a veteran journalist fighting intense political pressure to report the real story; and Lee Min Ho as Young-il, an ambitious rookie reporter who witnesses the horrific event firsthand and dives headfirst into the surrounding cover-up.
As the three men approach the incident from completely different angles, their paths collide in a high-tension search for a single, dangerous truth.
Assassins is set to hit theaters in South Korea this fall during the Chuseok holiday season.
