Korean cinema heavyweights Yoo Hae Jin, Park Hae Il, and Lee Min Ho have officially joined forces in Assassin(s) (literal title), the highly anticipated new political thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Hur Jin Ho, known for The Last Princess and Christmas in August.
Currently in smooth production after kicking off filming in August, the film delves into the aftermath of a shocking August 15th assassination that shakes the nation to its core—tracing the web of conspiracy, power, and truth behind one of modern Korea’s most pivotal moments.
Produced by Hive Media Corp, the powerhouse studio behind critically acclaimed blockbusters like 12.12: the Day, The Man Standing Next, and Inside Men, Assassin(s) promises a tightly wound, emotionally charged story that blends historical realism with gripping suspense.
Yoo Hae Jin, fresh off his box-office hit Exhuma, plays a police inspector who witnesses the assassination firsthand. Known for his sharp instincts and quiet intensity, Yoo is expected to anchor the film with his depth and presence.
Park Hae Il, reuniting with director Hur Jin Ho for the first time since The Last Princess, takes on the role of a newspaper editor who risks everything to uncover the truth behind the case.
Rounding out the trio is Lee Min Ho, following his acclaimed turn in Apple TV+’s Pachinko. He stars as a rookie reporter who witnesses the incident and becomes caught in the ensuing investigation, bringing youthful energy and global star appeal to the film.
Behind the camera, Assassin(s) brings together an all-star creative team. Cinematographer Lee Mo Gae and lighting director Lee Sung Hwan reunite (Exhuma, 12.12: the Day), while longtime Hur collaborator composer Cho Sung Woo (Christmas in August, The Last Princess) returns to provide the score. Makeup designer Song Jong Hee (Concrete Utopia, Decision to Leave), costume designer Choi Yoon Sun (Exhuma, The Hunt), and VFX supervisor Jung Jae Hoon (12.12: the Day) complete the elite production lineup.
