SBS has released photos from the first table read for its new Friday-Saturday drama Flex x Cop 2.
Flex x Cop 2 is a flashy buddy-investigation drama about third-generation chaebol detective Jin I Soo, who uses money and connections like cheat codes, and veteran detective Joo Hye Ra as they take down criminals who have become even more cunning.
The first table read brought together director Kim Jae Hong, writer Kim Ba Da and the main cast, including Ahn Bo Hyun, Jung Eun Chae, Kang Sang Jun, Kim Shin Bi, Jung Ga Hee and Kim Myung Soo.
Before the reading began, director Kim said, “I feel deeply grateful and honored to be making a second season.” Ahn added, “I really missed the set of ‘Flex x Cop.’ I want to help create a fun set so the newly joined cast members can feel that same chemistry with us.”
Ahn brings back Jin I Soo with his signature playful charm, portraying the chaebol detective as a full-fledged investigator. With sharper instincts and a more professional edge, the character is set to return with an upgraded edge.
Jung Eun Chae also made a strong impression as Joo Hye Ra, the new leader of Gangha Police Station’s Violent Crimes Unit 1. She put her own spin on the character, who has an effortless charisma and a fierce competitive streak, fitting smoothly into the team from the very first read. Another key point to watch will be the bickering partnership between Jin I Soo and Joo Hye Ra, who first crossed paths at the police academy as a “wild-card trainee” and a “demon instructor.”
The members of Violent Crimes Unit 1 also showed even stronger teamwork. Kang Sang Jun brought steadiness to responsible detective Park Jun Young, while Kim Shin Bi lifted the mood with Choi Kyung Jin’s bright, youngest-member energy. Jung Ga Hee and Kim Myung Soo, returning from the previous season, added to the ensemble with their reliable performances.
The production team said, “The original cast’s deeper chemistry and the fresh energy of the new cast members came together perfectly from the very first meeting. With a bigger scale, an exciting story and thrilling character dynamics, we hope viewers will look forward to the special fun this season has to offer.”
Flex x Cop 2 premieres Aug. 7th at 9:50 PM KST.
