ADOR, the agency behind the K-pop group NewJeans, has appointed a new legal representative.
The company appointed four lawyers from Law Firm Leehan on May 8th as its legal counsel and submitted a motion to the court to change the trial date.
The previous legal team, consisting of five lawyers from Kim & Chang, fully stepped down on April 24th. The new representatives from Law Firm Leehan are also handling a related case involving Bang Si Hyuk and allegations of violations of capital markets laws.
The Seoul Central District Court will hold the first hearing on May 14th at 2 PM to review both parties’ arguments. This will be the first trial hearing since the preparatory session in March, held about two months ago.
ADOR filed a lawsuit in December last year against member Danielle, seeking termination of her exclusive contract and damages of 43 billion won ($29 million). The company maintains that former CEO Min Hee Jin and Danielle are responsible for NewJeans’ departure.
The court also approved ADOR’s request for provisional seizure of assets belonging to Danielle’s mother and former CEO Min in February. The seizure amounts are 2 billion won ($1.3 million) for Danielle’s mother and 5 billion won ($3.4 million) for former CEO Min, totaling 7 billion won ($4.7 million).
