Netflix’s new Korean superhero series, Cashero, is officially a global hit.
The show has recorded 3.8 million views since its release on December 26th, securing the No. 2 spot on the Netflix Global Top 10 Series (Non-English) chart. It has also entered the Top 10 list in 37 countries, including South Korea, Brazil, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia.
Cashero offers a fresh twist on the genre. It tells the story of Sang Woong (played by Junho), an ordinary salaryman struggling with rent and wedding funds. He gains superpowers that increase in strength proportional to the amount of cash he physically holds—meaning he literally has to spend his own money to save the world.

Viewers are raving about this unique concept, with both domestic and international audiences drawn to its fresh take on the superhero genre. Korean fans have praised the show for blending fantasy with gritty reality, with one review noting, “The idea of a hero saving the world by spending their own money is really fresh, and it’s powerful to see them struggle when faced with the harsh reality of their situation.” Another viewer shared, “The sound of coins adds such an exciting yet pitiful touch. It’s great because it’s not your typical hero story, but a much more realistic one.” A third commented, “I absolutely love these Korean-style hero stories, where the hero saves the world even though no one acknowledges their efforts.”
These domestic reviews suggest that the show’s portrayal of its heroes struck a deep chord with many viewers. Comments like, “It really made me question if I’d actually help others with my own money,” “I laughed, then cried – the time just flew by,” and “There are so many meaningful moments and lines scattered throughout” highlight the strong emotional connection. One user on X put it perfectly: “Every single line feels like it hits straight to the heart of reality.”

International audiences have also been captivated by the performances of the cast, each bringing a distinct flavor to their roles. Reviews on platforms like IMDb highlight the impressive acting and clever reinterpretation of the superhero trope. “An excellent series – the acting is really impressive and satisfying.” Another viewer on IMDb commented, “I love how they reimagined the hero concept. The actors’ performances really bring the characters to life, and that stands out.”
Cashero is currently streaming exclusively on Netflix.
