JTBC’s upcoming drama Love Rediscovered is moving forward after its cast, crew and producers agreed to major cost-cutting measures.
According to Xports News on July 23, the production is set to resume filming in August after the team agreed to reduce expenses, including cast fees, and significantly scale back the overall production.
Filming had been temporarily halted last month. At the time, the drama’s team said it was taking a break to further develop the scripts and account for the rainy season, though industry insiders also pointed to JTBC’s liquidity issues and restructuring proceedings involving affiliates of Joongang Media Network Ltd.
With some filming already completed, the possibility of shutting down production altogether was reportedly considered. Instead, the producers, cast and staff agreed to share the burden in order to finish the drama.
The series was originally planned as 12 episodes running about 70 minutes each. It has now been reduced to eight episodes of around 45 minutes each, cutting the total runtime from roughly 840 minutes to 360 minutes.
Filming is expected to resume in the first week of August and wrap by late October.
Love Rediscovered follows a divorced couple who end up living in the same share house and working at the same company, forcing them to see each other in a new light.
Kim So Yeon, Kim Ji Seok, Yoon Hyun Min and Hwang Wooseul Hye star in the series, which is jointly produced by SLL, Studio HIM and Alkimist Media.
One insider said, “There were a lot of practical challenges, but everyone agreed that they couldn’t let all the time and effort the cast and crew had already put into the project go to waste,” adding, “The production company was also determined to see the project through to the end, even if it meant taking on losses and additional burdens.”
