JTBC will temporarily halt the filming of some of its variety programs.

My Daily reported on June 23rd, JTBC will pause production for programs including Chef & My Fridge and the new variety show Love War. This decision affects shows such as Divorce Re-Boot Camp, Knowing Bros and Talk Pawon 25 O’Clock.

However, a JTBC official declined to provide a specific statement regarding the filming halt.

Industry insiders believe that JTBC’s declaration of default and the subsequent applications for corporate rehabilitation by its affiliated companies have influenced this decision. It is also anticipated that reruns will be scheduled once the pre-filmed episodes have all been broadcast.

JTBC declared a default on June 12th, failing to repay a liquidity loan amounting to approximately 20.6 billion won ($13.4 million) upon its maturity. On June 14th, JoongAng Holdings, Contentree JoongAng, Megabox JoongAng and JoongAng P&I sequentially filed for commencement of rehabilitation proceedings, with JTBC following suit on June 15th.

The Seoul Rehabilitation Court is scheduled to hold a hearing today, June 23rd, for the representatives of JTBC and its four other affiliated companies.

UPDATE:

JTBC has denied reports that its variety shows are set to suspend filming, stating that all programs will proceed as scheduled.

A JTBC representative told SPOTV News on June 23th, “All programs are scheduled to continue filming according to their planned schedules,” adding, “Reports claiming that these programs are halting production are not true.”

Earlier that day, a media outlet reported that JTBC would suspend filming for all of its variety shows except Chef & My Fridge and Love War. The report further claimed that programs including Divorce Re-Boot Camp, Knowing Bros and Talk Pawon 25 O’Clock would also be affected by the alleged production halt.

However, JTBC quickly refuted the report, emphasizing that the claims were “groundless.” As a result, filming for its variety programs is expected to continue without disruption.
