A former manager of TV personality and comedian Park Na Rae has been arrested and sent to prosecutors after attempting to extort company revenues through false claims, police said on July 21st.
The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul confirmed that the manager was transferred to the prosecution in police custody on charges of attempted extortion and embezzlement.
According to investigators, the manager allegedly threatened to go public with fabricated stories claiming Park used company funds to finance an ex-boyfriend unless he was given 10% of her agency’s 2024 revenue. He is also suspected of embezzling approximately 30 million won ($20,000) in company funds.
Police applied for an arrest warrant for the manager, which was officially granted by the court on July 16th.
Authorities also transferred a second former manager to the prosecution without detention on attempted extortion charges, alleging the individual colluded with the manager to demand money and valuables from Park.
