IU has drawn major online attention after being spotted for the first time in a while following Perfect Crown.
Child actress Kim Tae Yeon’s mother shared a post on social media on June 14th, saying, “Went to a wedding and ended up right next to her! My daughter’s wish came true,” along with photos from a wedding attended by Kim Tae Yeon and IU.
The wedding they attended was reportedly for a security staff member who had worked on IU’s personal security team at her agency. IU attended as a guest and also congratulated the couple by singing the congratulatory song “Blueming,” celebrating their new chapter in life.

The appearance drew even more attention as it marked IU’s first public update following the conclusion of the MBC drama Perfect Crown. Fans were excited to see her again, praising her unchanged visuals and warm interactions.
Netizens reacted enthusiastically, leaving comments such as, “The groom and bride must have saved a country in their past life to get IU singing at their wedding,” “She even did finger hearts,” “She took photos with everyone,” “That’s so IU,” and “It’s nice to see her again.”
Meanwhile, Perfect Crown previously faced controversy after a scene featuring a crown resembling an imperial Chinese crown appeared during a coronation scene, along with courtiers shouting a line that sparked speculation the drama portrayed Joseon as a vassal state of China.
As the controversy grew, both the production team and lead actors IU and Byun Woo Seok issued official apologies. The controversial scene was later removed from streaming versions.
