Lee Jae Wook and Shin Ye Eun have teamed up for a couple pictorial with ELLE Korea.
Shot before Lee Jae Wook’s enlistment, the pictorial captures the co-stars’ effortless chemistry and warm teamwork, mirroring the bond they share in Doctor on the Edge.
In the interview that followed, the actors opened up about working together. Doctor on the Edge follows public health doctor Do Ji Eui and nurse Yook Ha Ri as they arrive on Pyeondong Island, a place everyone else avoids.
Lee Jae Wook shared, “’Doctor on the Edge’ will probably be my last project in my 20s. More than anything, it was especially meaningful and fun because I got to film it with Ye Eun, who is the same age as me.” He added, “The word ‘healing’ comes up often in the drama, but it is not only doctors who can heal someone. In different corners of our lives, we heal and are healed through one another.”

Shin Ye Eun said she was drawn to “the way Yook Ha Ri sees the world so beautifully.” She added, “There were so many funny moments on set that it was hard not to laugh. While acting out the big and small incidents that unfold in the story, as well as the way people gradually heal and grow in body and mind, I felt that although everyone is different, deep down, we all want to be happy.”
When asked what the project left behind for them, Lee Jae Wook said, “I cried a lot while filming this project. Every time I did, I thought, ‘Ah, I really do love this project.’ It is a project that made me cherish and love myself more while working on it, so I think it will stay with me for a long time.”
Shin Ye Eun shared, “At first, I was nervous and anxious about filming, but once I got to set and simply melted into the moment, I felt that I existed as Yook Ha Ri. Going forward, I want to be an actor who can blend into a set naturally and honestly.”

The two also left heartfelt messages for each other after working hard together. Lee Jae Wook said, “I was so lucky that Ye Eun existed as Ha Ri herself. We filmed far away, and I am grateful that she quietly pushed through even the difficult moments.”
Shin Ye Eun added, “Jae Wook felt like someone who knew everything about me. That is how thoughtful he is. He made me feel, in every moment, that we were moving in the same direction. I am grateful for that.”
ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama Doctor on the Edge is set to premiere on June 1st.
