Disney Plus has officially confirmed the premiere date for Doctor on the Edge and unveiled a new romance poster spotlighting the chemistry between Lee Jae Wook and Shin Ye Eun.
The upcoming medical-human romance series will premiere June 1st, with new episodes dropping every Monday and Tuesday on Disney Plus.
Doctor on the Edge follows public health doctor Do Ji Eui (played by Lee Jae Wook), who is unexpectedly assigned to the notoriously isolated island of Pyeondongdo — a place everyone else avoids — where he crosses paths with mysterious nurse Yuk Ha Ri (Shin Ye Eun).
The newly released poster captures the two characters standing under bright sunlight against a stunning ocean backdrop. The tagline, “A public health doctor with chronic island trauma meets an unexpected island romance,” hints at the growing feelings between the pair after their unlikely encounter.
One of the drama’s biggest draws is expected to be the romantic chemistry between Lee Jae Wook and Shin Ye Eun. Lee Jae Wook plays Do Ji Eui, a doctor who avoids islands due to trauma tied to the sea, but who ends up stationed on Pyeondongdo against his will. The actor is set to portray everything from the character’s guarded and prickly personality to his gradual emotional softening.
Meanwhile, Shin Ye Eun transforms into Yuk Ha Ri, a warmhearted nurse known for caring deeply about everyone around her. Beneath her bright and cheerful personality, however, lies a more layered emotional side.
With their completely opposite personalities, the two leads are expected to deliver both heart-fluttering romance and playful banter as they navigate life together on the remote island.
The series also features rising actors Hong Min Gi, Lee Soo Kyung and Kim Yoon Woo, who will bring the island’s vibrant community and relationships to life. Director Lee Myung Woo, known for Boyhood and The Fiery Priest, joins forces with writer Kim Ji Soo for the project, further raising anticipation. The drama is also based on the popular KakaoPage webtoon Jonbeo Doctor.
