Shin Ye Eun is stepping into a major new chapter in her career, taking on her first true solo lead role.
On February 26, industry sources confirmed that the actress will headline the upcoming drama High School Queen, based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name. The series will place Shin at the center of the story, carrying the narrative as its main lead.
The story follows Kim Cheong Ha, a queen of the Joseon era and a master swordswoman, who is reincarnated as modern-day high school student Park Da Jin. Using her Joseon-era martial arts skills, she takes on school bullies, delivering a mix of action, revenge and cathartic payback.
Studio Dragon previously shared that the series is being developed as a long-form drama, keeping the webtoon’s signature satisfying action while expanding the romance that moves between the past and present. The studio is also planning to grow the IP further in collaboration with CJ ENM, with potential film and animation adaptations in development.
As the central character, Shin Ye Eun will take on a dual-layered role, portraying both the formidable Joseon queen and her modern high school counterpart, marking her first time carrying a series as the sole lead.
The actress has built a strong resume across genres with projects including Revenge of Others, The Glory, Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, A Hundred Memories and The Murky Stream, and is also set to appear in the upcoming ENA drama Doctor Somebody. With experience spanning school dramas to action roles—and a Rising Actress win at the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards—expectations are high for Shin Ye Eun’s next chapter.
