BTS is receiving a massive welcome in Peru ahead of the group’s first-ever concerts in the country. Lima has temporarily renamed a street after the group, while Peruvian fans have even created a “BTS Forest” near the iconic Machu Picchu.
BTS will hold BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN LIMA at Estadio San Marcos in Lima on October 7th, 9th and 10th (local time). This marks the group’s first performance in Peru since their 2013 debut. All three shows have sold out, and it will also be the first time all seven members perform together in the country.
Ahead of the concerts, the Santiago de Surco district of Lima temporarily renamed Sacramento Street “Avenida BTS” (BTS Avenue) from October 5th through 11th. New signs have been installed along the street to mark the occasion.

The city has also prepared several BTS-themed attractions for fans. The Arco Morisco at Parque de la Amistad has been lit up in BTS’ signature purple, with a BTS-themed light show running through October 11st. The Magic Water Circuit will also host a special event featuring BTS music, lights, and water-screen displays. Other venues, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, are planning BTS-related video screenings and workshops.
Carlos Bruce, mayor of the Surco district, welcomed the group, saying, “We’re honored to welcome BTS to our district with open arms.”
Peruvian ARMY have also prepared a series of special events.
Fans will host a free drone show over Lima’s Costa Verde at 8 PM on October 8th, between the first and second concerts. According to Spain’s EFE news agency, around 150 drones will form the BTS logo and other images in the sky. A separate paragliding event will take place that afternoon, with participants carrying messages for the members. It will be the first BTS drone show in South America.
Fans are also planning a large-scale fan project inside the concert venue. Concertgoers will use their phone lights to create the red and white colors of the Peruvian flag during selected songs.
Banners featuring messages such as “Peru will go into the sun with BTS” and “From the land of the Incas, we follow your light to the sun” will also be distributed at the venue. “Into the Sun” is a track from BTS’ ARIRANG album.
Toward the end of the concerts, fans plan to chant together, “BTS is key, and Peru knows it” (“BTS es clave y Peru lo sabe”). During the final show on October 10th, fans will also distribute 30,000 heart-shaped cards in celebration of Jimin’s birthday on October 13th.
The Peruvian fan club has also been carrying out the “ROAD TO 7” project in the weeks leading up to the concerts. The initiative includes activities related to food, art, environmental protection, and education in collaboration with local governments and museums.
But the fan projects extend far beyond Lima. Peruvian ARMY helped create a “BTS Forest” near Machu Picchu after taking part in the launch of the “1 Million Trees for Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary” campaign in Cusco on March 31st.
The campaign was launched by Peru’s National Service of Natural Protected Areas (Sernanp), under the country’s Ministry of Environment, to restore areas damaged by wildfires and soil degradation.
According to Peruvian news weekly Caretas, fans planted around 2,000 native trees, including aliso, queñua and chacachamó. The area has since been dubbed the “BTS Forest.” A video documenting the tree-planting effort has also gone viral on TikTok, receiving more than 174,000 likes.
Sernanp highlighted the fans’ participation in a press release titled “From Fans to Protectors of Machu Picchu.”
“We are seeing new groups and individuals joining our conservation efforts,” said José Carlos Nieto Navarrete, head of Sernanp.
Dayana Cordova, a representative of the Peruvian BTS fan club, said, “BTS has shown its commitment to protecting the environment, from using recycled materials in its productions to participating in international campaigns.”
“As Peruvian ARMY, we wanted to turn that message into action,” she added. “We wanted to show that together, we can make a positive difference.”
Machu Picchu also holds special meaning for BTS. The ancient Inca citadel, located about 2,400 meters (7,875 feet) above sea level, is a place several members have said they would like to visit.
V has repeatedly expressed his desire to visit Machu Picchu since 2020. According to local outlet El Comercio, a Peruvian fan recently asked V on Weverse what he was most looking forward to during the trip. He reportedly replied, “What I want to see the most is Machu Picchu.”
Jimin has also mentioned Machu Picchu several times. A clip from a Weverse livestream in which he talked about the site has also been widely shared by Peruvian fans on social media.
Meanwhile, BTS kicked off the South American leg of their tour with two concerts at Estadio El Campín in Bogotá, Colombia, on October 2nd and 3rd. Around 100,000 fans attended the two shows.
Following their performances in Bogotá, the members reportedly arrived at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima on the afternoon of October 5th.
With streets renamed, landmarks illuminated, a drone show planned, and thousands of trees planted in their honor, BTS is receiving an extraordinary welcome ahead of their first-ever concerts in Peru.
